Program areas at PHF

The train learning network is The trusted leader in providing training and other learning opportunities to Public Health, healthcare, behavioral Health, preparedness, and other Health professionals. Train is a national, linked learning management system that reaches more than 4 million Health workers and brings together a community of partners dedicated to building a strong Health workforce to ensure population Health in an increasingly complex environment with rapidly emerging and evolving needs. A well connected, competent and flexible workforce is more important than ever. 97% of The courses on train are free of charge to learners.
Phf assists Public Health organizations in efforts to improve their performance and achieve their Public Health objectives. This is accomplished through: 1) developing and communicating training and key messages, such as providing current and critical information about covid-19 and influenza vaccinations; 2) assessing and documenting adherence to policies, procedures, and organizational protocols; 3) assessing impacts of program performance on Health; and 4) developing recommendations on ways to improve program performance. Phf has played a major role throughout The covid-19 pandemic, helping Public Health and healthcare providers find and access timely information necessary for appropriate actions.
Phf staff supporting The council on linkages between academia and Public Health practice (council on linkages) facilitate developing consensus across 24 diverse national organizations working to improve Public Health and population Health practice, education, and research. Phf has also expanded work to strengthen linkages between Public Health, and healthcare communities. In 2021, The council on linkages adopted The revised core competencies for Public Health professionals, more explicitly incorporating justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. These competencies are used by The majority of u.s. state, tribal, local, and territorial Health departments.
Phf helps organizations prioritize challenges and make measurable improvements through its performance improvement services. Sometimes this requires improving internal processes that result in improved efficiency, effectiveness, and better internal and external customer service. Other times, this requires working with organizations to better understand root causes of Health problems, align and refine diverse efforts of stakeholders, and achieve improvements in community Health. Whether focusing internally, externally, or both, phf helps organizations achieve real improvement and impact.these technical assistance and training services provide facilitation and coaching to Public Health organizations to aid departments, agencies, boards, divisions and their community and healthcare partners in implementing performance management, quality improvement, and workforce development. The learning resource center (lrc) is an online bookstore dedicated to providing professionals with The educational and training materials they need to better protect Public Health and promote healthy communities.the phf website (www.phf.org) provides trusted information, and over 150 tools and resources that help Public Health and healthcare organizations operate more effectively and efficiently, to improve community health.communication and cross-sector collaborations. Phf works across sectors to build capacity where it is needed and bring out The best in those working for healthier communities. We help organizations connect and more effectively use information to manage and improve performance, understand and use data and strengthen The workforce.the academic Health department learning community is a national community designed to support The development, maintenance, and expansion of ahd partnerships formal affiliations of Health departments and academic institutions. Established in january 2011 by The council on linkages between academia and Public Health practice, this learning community facilitates shared exploration of The ahd concept and collaborative learning about ahds.the ahd learning community brings together Public Health and healthcare professionals to share ahd-related knowledge and experiences and work collaboratively to create ahd resources and tools. Through The learning community, members can participate in meetings and webinars; engage in discussion; access resources and tools; and receive guidance to support ahd efforts.ahds have added to The capacity and performance of Health departments throughout The covid-19 pandemic.
