Program areas at MCC

Workforce Institute's Workforce development training programs include The nationally-recognized strive job-readiness program, as well as customized job training and industry-recognized job training. Wficollaborates with area employers in high-growth industries to ensure that their curricula match employers' needs. Wfi places participants in internships and in jobs, with a 90% success rate. Customized job training prepares participants for jobs in The food and service industries, as well as in allied health. Wfi's array of programs serves older youth, particularly juvenile-justice-involved youth, and many participants who have struggled with substance abuse issues. Wfi's success lies in its supportive services which help students overcome barriers to completing The programs and to employment.
The Workforce Institute's computer technology institute is a private licensed, accredited College which offers three associate's degrees in computer technology and a diploma in health information technology. The innovative blended learning approach brings higher education into The community with a flexible and supportive model that ensures The success of its graduates.since its founding in 1974, wfi has served over 20,000 people, preparing them for successful careers in technology, allied health and other high-growth industries. Wfi served over 289 people in 2016 through its continuum of Workforce development and post-secondary programs. Programs range from wfi's signature job readiness program, strive, to industry-specific job training resulting in certification, externships and job placement. These trainings can be customized through industry partnerships to ensure that training meets employer needs and that students are successful in their careers. This results in wfi's strong track record in job retention. Wfi serves many philadelphians with barriers to employment, including behavioral health issues. Through The nationally-recognized strive program, participants gain valuable 21st century Workforce skills that prepare them for industry specific job training internships and job placement. Wfi also provides diploma and degree programs through its licensed accredited College, computer technology institute. The majors are offered in a blended learning model and prepare people for careers in technology, business and allied health. An array of student support services adds to The strength and success of The programs. Wfi's staff of advisors provide counseling, referrals, academic advising and support, and employment-related services. Internships are required in all degree programs and staff assist with job placement, tracking graduates for at least two years after graduation to ensure job retention.
