Program areas at Washington School-Based Health Alliance
WA SBHA advocates at the state level and federal level for school-based health center (SBHC) funding and support; builds capacity and a community of practice in school-based health care by providing resources, trainings, technical assistance, and networking; and communicates SBHC news and opportunities to Washington educators, healthcare providers, policymakers, and others invested in student health. Capacity-Building: In partnership with the national School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA), public Health - Seattle & King County, and others, in 2023 WA SBHA hosted a virtual state school-based health care conference, hosted numerous webinars and other virtual events for the SBHC field, and conducted sites visits and provided direct technical assistance to SBHCs and communities statewide. Policy & Advocacy: Advocacy by WA SBHA and partners led to an additional $1.8M for SBHCs in the FY2024-2025 biennial state budget, and $50M of funding for SBHCs in the federal budget for FY2023.
