The va system is a vast bureaucratic edifice requiring assistance to successfully receive appropriate benefits. Many Veterans miss out on appropriated services or compensation due to the labyrinthian nature of the system. The vfw Post provides these services free of cost to the veteran and even dependents of the veteran. This service amounts to thousands of hours the Post must invest in remedy, from a dedicated service officer to facilities and other costs. Post volunteers visit the va hospital and other hospitals and retirement/nursing homes primarily to visit with Veterans.
Veteran solidarity network: the vfw Post is used as a place or refuge and connection for Veterans of Foreign Wars. Through monthly socials, meetings, and special programs, Veterans are given the tools to adjust to civilian life and to manage whatever traumas or experiences they are navigating. Our honor guard performs flag ceremonies and rifle salutes for veteran funerals and other community ceremonies.
