Program areas at The Assistance Fund

The Assistance Fund (TAF) is an independent charitable patient assistance foundation that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs by providing financial assistance for their copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, and other health-related expenses. TAF assisted 36,157 patients in 2018, up from 31,074 in 2017 while also increasing their number of disease funds from 40 in 2017 to 49 in 2018. TAF improved visibility, scalability, service and accuracy by reducing its reliance on third parties and established an internal IT team. TAF's in-house patient advocate team increased from 20 in 2017 to 26 in 2018; handling approximately 152,000 phone calls. TAF launched a quarterly patient newsletter and leveraged social media campaigns and its marketing site to increase patient education and communication.
