Suwannee County Farm Bureau represents Suwannee county agriculture and works towards the betterment of the agriculture industry. It hosts events such as Farm City Week, where it held an essay contest to promote the value of agriculture in the community. Around 400 kids attended Youth Ag Day in Branford to expand their awareness and understanding of Florida agriculture and natural resources. Students from pre-K through second grade are exposed to Florida's agriculture.

Program areas at Suwannee County Farm Bureau

SCFB partnered with UF/IFAS Research Center for Community Day. This program's purpose was to educate the non farming community on the importance of agriculture in Suwannee County. Approximately 300 to 400 participants had the opportunity to learn about a variety of plants from blueberries to chestnuts and citrus, visit a progressive greenhouse and learn about water and fertilizer management.
Farm City Week is a national event that brings together the urban and ag community to forge a bond between city and agriculture through education. Suwannee County Farm Bureau held an essay contest that is designed to promote the value of agriculture in the community. Agriculture is constantly misunderstood and improvements can be made by understanding issues. Students were asked to write an essay on Why is agriculture important to our community, state, and nation? The contest gives students an opportunity to research agriculture the issues faced by farmers and ranchers. They learn to appreciate where their food comes from.
Approximately 375 students attended Youth Ag Day in Branford. The purpose of this event is to expand our local youth's awareness and understanding of Florida agriculture and natural resources. Students from pre K through third grade were exposed to Florida's agriculture and taught about its impact to our everyday life as they rotated through different booths.
