Program areas at Okaloosa County Farm Bureau

Farm City Week is a program which brings awareness of the importance of agriculture and the American farmer to the general public, government agencies and local agencies. We use this event as an opportunity to increase understanding, cooperation, and relationships between rural and urban residents. Agriculture is constantly misunderstood and improvements can be made by understanding issues.
'A Day on the Farm' is an on-farm event that allows us to celebrate local members while raising awareness of agricultural production. This year attendees learned about where their food and clothing comes from when they visited a peanut and cotton farm. This event was held to bring community awareness of the importance of agricutlure in Okaloosa county so we can continue to work towards the betterment of those engaged in agriculture.
Ag Literacy programs are important in our effort to provide agriculture education to our local schools. Okaloosa County Farm Bureau holds various events to help in achieving this goal. AgVenture field trips are held each fall to teach agricultural awareness to school aged children. We also read an age approriate book highlighting various commodities which help illustrate how important agriculture is to every one of us.
