Program areas at Smart Living Learning & Earning with Autism - SLLEA
Sllea assists adults with Autism through an autism-specific supported Living and housing program that fosters sustained personal growth and independence across three pivotal adult-life areas: (1) independent Living, (2) post-secondary education, and (3) career exploration and meaningful employment.sllea's programming model is designed to encourage maximal independence in the least restrictive and most normalized environment with progressive tiers to address and develop a broad range of experience and skill sets. At tier one, Sllea supports individuals still Living in their family home, helping them plan and prepare for a successful transition to Living away from family and supporting self, often for the first time. At tier two, Sllea offers a unique introduction into independent Living in our training and assessment program (tap). Tap is designed to provide a structured, safe and stable environment with heightened supports as tap students learn to manage life on their own for the first time. Graduates from tap and individuals with higher assessed independent Living skills may place into Sllea's advanced placement program (app) where basic support levels and skill trainings scale down gradually to encourage greater personal growth and self-reliance. As app students become ready, Sllea supports them in transition planning and making Sllea's final tier transition into their own apartment or house where Sllea remains available to provide individualized supports that allow them to experience continued success in their home and community.
