Peninsula Shepherd Center provides a support system that empowers older adults to maintain independence and self-sufficiency in their homes. They offer opportunities for seniors to learn and engage. PSC hosts monthly knitting group sessions, weekly bingo games, and major fundraisers such as Summer Celebration, Fall Campaign, and Christmas Bazaar. PSC's Out and About Senior Transportation program is essential in enabling Peninsula seniors to live independently by providing reliable rides to those who cannot or prefer not to drive. Program areas at Peninsula Shepherd Center

Other Programs--In 2023 our Summer Celebration fundraiser raised $24,173. Our Fall Campaign with approximately 100 donors raised $25,640. We hosted the following programs which do not generate revenue in excess of their expenses:1.Monthly Needler knitting group with an average of 8 seniors at each session. 2.Weekly Bingo sessions with an average of 15 seniors in attendance.3.Monthly Excursions and PSC Walks with an average of 10 seniors at each event.4.Monthly Chat and Fold with an average of 10 seniors at each session.5.Monthly Birthday parties with an average of 15 seniors at each party.6.Monthly Movie days with an average of 7 seniors attending each event.7.Monthly Lunch Bunch with presentations averaging 30 seniors each month.8.Porch Visits serving an average of 40 homebound seniors bi-monthly.9.A Computer Technology Tablet program (CTTP)delivering computer tablets to seniors.10.Bi-weekly computer classes with an average of 5 seniors in attendance each class.
Grants and Loans Received--PSC continued to receive the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Senior Mini-grant totaling $58,523 in 2023 as well as a partial grant for a wheelchair accessible van of $32,934. PSC also received a grant for $7,000 from the Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, $5,250 from All Souls' Episcopal Church, and $35,917 in grants from the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation. The Hervey Family Foundation awarded PSC $10,000.
PSC's Out and About Senior Transportation program is the central part of PSC services. It allows seniors in the Peninsula communities to live independently even though they are not able or do not wish to drive themselves. Rides are often needed for seniors to attend the PSC life enrichment programs and technology training classes we provide. During 2023 PSC provided 4,500 shuttle van rides,wheelchair accessible shuttle rides and volunteer rides.
