Luminaria delivers a contemporary arts program that supports downtown and the urban core of San Antonio while bringing attention to its multi-arts culture. It is best known for its free Contemporary Arts Festival, which features over 250 individual artists in fine art, film, poetry, sculpture and more, drawing thousands of people to the downtown area each year. Luminaria also awards up to $550 to Bexar County artists through its Working Artist Fund grant program and awarded 11 artists $5,500 for professional development in 2022.

LUMINARIA CONTEMPORARY ARTS FESTIVAL:Luminaria is best known for its free Contemporary Arts Festival which draws thousands of people to the downtown area each year. Over 250 individual artists participated in 2022, featuring fine art, film, poetry, sculptures, digital art, and live music. Artists from the San Antonio area comprised the majority of Featured Artists, accompanied by artists from Pennsylvania, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Germany, Mexico City, Monterrey, South Korea, Canada, and England ranging in age from 16-72.
LUMINARIA PLACEMAKINGIn 2022, Luminaria was invited by Palo Alto College to install two of their galleries during Latinx History Month. Latinx Collective Narratives was up for one month and free to students and the public.
LUMINARIA ARTIST FOUNDATION GRANT PROGRAMSThe Working Artist Fund continues to award up to $550 for professional development activities per artist living and working in Bexar County. In 2022, Luminaria awarded 11 artists $5,500 for professional development activities including purchases of software, supplies and materials, fabric, clay, equipment, travel and instruments.
