Demanding Justice for sexual and gender-based violence(see schedule o for additional information. )demanding Justice for sexual and gender-based violence1. Submitted an amicus brief in the ongwen case at the international criminal court, focusing on the crime of forced pregnancy as a war crime and crimes against humanity and presented oral arguments directly to the appeals chamber in the hague. 2. Engaged with the gambia v. myanmar genocide case at the international court of Justice, including helping to demystify the impact and potential consequences of the military's 2021 coup d'etat as it relates to the case and the court's processes, and circulated an explainer on preliminary objections and provided expertise to the media and others on the potential outcomes in advance of the court's decision.3. Hosted two webinars with ngo partners related to Justice for myanmar and for rohingya to Center advocates' demands for Justice and accountability.4. Submitted expert legal analysis to united nations investigative bodies on sexual and gender-based crimes in conflict situations in ukraine and ethiopia.5. Made an amicus submission to an argentine court outlining best practices for engaging with victims and witnesses of sexual violence and assessing evidence of sexual violence in support a partner organization's universal jurisdiction case.

Continued to engage with un member states to ensure they include strong language on gender in the proposed crimes against humanity treaty and pay specific attention to gender-based crimes.2. Provided online capacity-building training for women's rights groups in myanmar, focusing on ongoing accountability proceedings, venues for international Justice and accountability, and opportunities to engage.3. In conjunction with partners, hosted a side event during the assembly of states parties on Justice in myanmar, featuring the icc's prosecutor karim khan and the head of the independent investigative mechanism for myanmar.
Fighting for sexual and reproductive rights(see schedule o for additional information. )fighting for sexual and reproductive rights1. With ngo partners, submitted input to the list of themes and a shadow report to the committee on the elimination of racial discrimination in advance of its review of the us on racial disparities in abortion access, the anti-black policy of shackling of pregnant prisoners, and racially disparate outcomes in cervical cancer screening and treatment, published an educational factsheet on the shadow report, and presented to the committee that the disproportionate impacts of the united states' abortion restrictions perpetuate racial inequality and violate the right to health of black, brown, and indigenous women and pregnant people and that us foreign policy on abortion, especially the helms amendment, threatens the health and lives of these communities in the Global south.2. Submitted input to the special rapporteur on the right to health for two thematic reports: one on racism and the right to health, and the other on violence and its impact on the right to health 3. After the world health organization released its updated guidelines on abortion care, gjc's president co-authored a piece in the lancet summarizing the new guidelines.
