Program areas at Georgia Youth Justice Coalition for Action

In 2022 Georgia Youth Justice Coalition for Action recruited and trained more than 50 young Georgians from underrepresented communities in leadership development and civic empowerment as part of the Changemakers Bootcamp. The Changemakers Bootcamp intentionally engaged Black brown low-income and LGBTQ+ youth as part of the training program to help prepare young Georgians for future volunteer and paid roles related to power building and civic engagement.
Georgia Youth Justice Coalition for Action built a youth organizing campaign to engage high school students in an education justice movement to promote equity and opportunity in public education. As part of that work we elevated the voices of dozens of young Georgians into traditional and digital media to shift the narrative toward transformative solutions that give all children a fair and equitable opportunity to learn. Through our organizing we mobilized hundreds of students to events and school board meetings in support of stronger and more equitable public schools in Georgia.
In Fall 2022 Georgia Youth Justice Coalition for Action regularly engaged in non-partisan get-out-the-vote activities and voter education drives around the issues at stake in the 2022 midterm election including public education racial justice healthcare access and community safety. Through that work GYJCA organizers completed more than 95,000 conversations across organizing tactics to engage underrepresented communities in democracy building increasing access to the ballot by promoting early voting centers on college campuses and educating young Georgians on necessary information to cast a ballot in the midterm and runoff election.
