Education for Sustainable Societies. a) Sustainable Societies - James River Basin. Design and delivery, in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University, of face-to-face and web-based courses about regional sustainability challenges and opportunities that students can use as a springboard for tackling regional challenges. Added Global Sustainable Societies: Drivers of Global Change in VCU Honors College this year.b) Sustainable Societies Academy. Design and delivery of summer program for New York City high school students about how to address regional sustainability challenges in association with Sustainability Curriculum Consortium.
Sustainable RVA.a) Reinforced greater Richmond, Virginia (RVA) regional identity as a model for tackling the most critical social, economic, and environmental sustainability challenges facing the region. Developed a set of regional sustainability goals supported by specific projects to enable the region to attain those goals by 2050.b) Sustainable RVA Zero Waste Initiative. Ongoing project for food scrap collection at the Birdhouse Farmers Market in the city of Richmond.
Research Fellowship and Web Content Program: Recruited young professionals interested in socio-economic and policy issues related to sustainability and climate change. EFI fulfills two goals through this program: contribute to the professional and intellectual development of new generation of sustainability professionals and through their research, provide innovative educational and policy materials for global audiences. Hundreds of hours of volunteer time contributed through this mentorship program.
