Collaboration: collaboration defines Ecodistricts' line of consulting and philanthropically supported technical assistance services, designed to support urban development leaders actively shaping or re-shaping urban neighborhoods and districts, whether from the public, private or civic led sectors. The objectives of the collaboration line are to a) build a portfolio of exemplar projects, b) advance use of protocol, building customer leads and introducing them to the protocol and certification and c) curate a growing peer-to-peer network of projects, professionals and advocates to build the Ecodistricts marketplace and develop business opportunities for Ecodistricts members.
Certification: Ecodistricts certified was launched in 2018 and is a first-of-its-kind, process-based recognition system that empowers practitioners at all stages of neighborhood- and district-scale project planning, design and implementation to achieve scalable outcomes in equity, resilience, and climate protection. Our certification business model offers the opportunity for a wide range of project types to pursue project registration and certification -- from large-scale brownfield sites to smaller neighborhood revitalizations, with an emphasis on a) building project support and aligning interests, b) shaping governance, c) analyzing project opportunities, d) guiding district-scale investments, e) measuring success, and f) rewarding leadership. The Ecodistricts protocol guides this process.
Accreditation: Ecodistricts' accredited professional (ap) program launched in 2017 and is the world's only professional credential marking expertise in district-scale sustainable development. A one-day or online training course is required to sit for the Ecodistricts ap exam and complements professional planning, design and sustainability credentials such as leed ap, aicp and aia. Learning outcomes include: understanding key issues that are fundamental to neighborhood sustainability, including collaborative governance, benchmarking performance and developing comprehensive roadmaps that address climate, resilience and equity; an in-depth overview of the Ecodistricts protocol; an in-depth overview of requirements for achieving Ecodistricts certified; exploration of inspiring case studies and examples of districts-scale best practices.
