Program areas at Cat Action Team
Trap-neuter-vaccinate-return program: In 2024, Cat Action Team TNVR'd a total of 790 cats and kittens: 440 females and 350 males. The 48 kittens and cats in the foster-to-adopt program who were spayed or neutered are included in these numbers.
Pet retention/colony maintenance program: In 2024, we continued our monthly food drives at local pet-food stores plus individual donations of food which was distributed to people feeding colony cats. We collected $5,456.87 worth of food. In addition, Cat Action Team spent approximately $26,200 buying/distributing food. Medical costs amounted to approximately $24,500. We assisted approximately 30 households and over 150 cats.
Foster/Adopt Program: In 2024, Cat Action Team took in and fostered 49 kittens and cats with the help of 19 foster homes. In addition, 6 cats & kittens were in foster care from 2023. All kittens and cats in the foster-to-adopt program receive veterinary care, vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. The number of cats and kittens in the foster-to-adopt information is reported to the Virginia Department of Agriculture annually.
