Program areas at Asian American Advocacy Fund

Leadership Development: We partnered with the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition Votes to host the inaugural nonpartisan Rising Tide Southeast/Immigrant and Refugee Candidate and Campaign Staff Training. 43 participants from nine states, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee, attended this non-partisan training meant to prepare first- and second-generation immigrant and refugee candidates and campaign staff with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to run successfully for office across the Southeast.
Arts & Culture: We launched the Threads of Justice, a project in which we asked 12 Asian American artists, designers, and other creatives in Georgia to create publicly displayed art that calls for change, unity, and power building amongst AAPIs and other communities of color. With repurposed denim jackets as their medium, the artists explored what it means to be Asian in the American South, weaving the stories of our communities into the rich tapestry of social justice that exists in Georgia.
Direct Voter Contact: conducted deep canvassing programs to learn more about the issues that our communities care most about. These programs were nonpartisan in nature and did not discuss any candidate or party.
