Bloc ministries is a non-denominational non-profit that offers positive presence in urban Cincinnat, working one-to-one to break the cycle of poverty and despair. We foster growth through mentoring relationships and skills-building opportunities that improve physical, socio-emotional and spiritual health for urban students and adults. Bloc currently serves youth in five communities: Cleves, western hills, east and west Price Hill and lower Price Hill. These "bloc houses" are existing storefronts or buildings that we have transformed into attractive gathering places for students in lower income neighborhoods. Bloc provides resources such as tutoring counseling, fitness rooms, sports leagues, arts programs, technology training, and free adult-supervised activities to educate, support and encourage youth. Bloc also offers mentoring for adults, job training, free food and furniture pantrles, a day shelter for homeless women, community meals and large group events like concerts or grill outs. Over 4,000 disadvantaged adults and students were served last year through existing block programs.
