Program areas at Youth Quest Foundation
3d thinklink initiative: 3d thnklink initiative is a unique project that uses 3d design and printing to teach critical thinking and problem-solving skills to at-risk Youth. The students gain knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience they need to prepare for continued education or entry-level employment in occupations related to science, technology, engineering, and math (stem).
Grants and scholarships: the Foundation also gives grants and scholarships to other programs, which include the following:3d thinklink initiative: scholarships are awarded based on an essay competition.step up loudoun Youth: a competition in which students create and implement plans to address issues facing teens in loudoun county, virginia.grl-pwr: a multi-state project created by the 2012 step up contest winners to provide positive role models and build young girls self-esteem. College tribe: a tutoring program that works to keep black males in school in southeast Washington, dc. Cakes for cause: at-risk teens in frederick, Maryland, gain on-the-job experience working as apprentices in the nonprofits bakery/caf while also earning a ged.
3d fabrication laboratory: the Foundation provides advanced training for students in the 3d thinklink initiatives immersion lab, as well as serve as a profit center to help further the 3d thinklink initiative. This is envisioned to be a full-capacity 3d laboratory offering a wide variety of print media, including plastic, ceramic, and sugar, as well as support equipment, such as 3d scanners. Immersion labs currently take place twice annually for one week each. With the foundations expansion to the boys and girls clubs and other programs, the Foundation anticipates more student use.
