Program areas at Ascension Via Christi Hospital Manhattan
ASCENSION VIA CHRISTI HOSPITAL MANHATTAN, INC. (AVCH-M) IS A 94-BED HOSPITAL CAMPUS PROVIDING SERVICES WITHOUT REGARD TO PATIENT RACE, CREED, NATIONAL ORIGIN, ECONOMIC STATUS, OR ABILITY TO PAY. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2020, AVCH-M TREATED 4,429 ADULTS AND CHILDREN FOR A TOTAL OF 14,806 PATIENT DAYS OF SERVICE. THE HOSPITAL ALSO PROVIDED SERVICES FOR 91,438 OUTPATIENT VISITS, WHICH INCLUDED 1,576 OUTPATIENT SURGERIES AND 19,954 EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS. As part of the Ascension Catholic health ministry, the filing organization served in support of Ascension's commitment to both care for patients and communities and support caregivers and other associates through the challenges of the COVID-19 global pandemic in FY20.
Avch-m works with the communities they serve in addressing their needs with their limited resources. Here are some of the ways in which avch-m helps. 1) various departments serve as clinical education field placement settings for area colleges, universities and vocational students, 2) associates assist in fundraising for other area not-for-profits through the annual one community campaign, 3) saving lives through sponsoring blood drives in partnership with the american red cross, 4) sponsors associates participation through in-kind donations of time for area not-for-profits, media resources, public presentations on a variety of health topics, 5) host a variety of educational programs on baby, toddler and child related topics for parents, child daycare centers and other caregivers, 6) host cpr classes for the community, 7) assist patients and their caregivers with applications for public programs for which they are entitled, 8) underwrite transportation for low-income patients needing a way home following discharge and/or secure transportation to another facility, and more.
