Program areas at The Living Earth Show

By far and away, commissioning composers and other artistic collaborators--many of whom represent communities and perspectives that have been traditionally underserved by the classical music establishment--is our organization's largest program service. In 2021, The Living Earth Show provided commissioning support for composer Sarah Hennies, Danny Clay, as well as visual artist Terry Berlier. The Living Earth Show was also proud to hire 6 dance artists as collaborators through the pandemic.
In 2021, The Living Earth Show also provided financial support for recording and documenting several substantial works. COMMANDO, a project featuring bassist Van Jackson-Weaver and five of the most renowend LGBTQ vocalists in the United States, recorded their first large-scale video production.
Though live performance was significantly curtailed for much of 2021 as a result of the COVID-10 pandemic, the last three months of the year still saw The Living Earth Show provide artist fees for numerous live performances. The Living Earth Show paid 23 artists in 2021, and recorded a record amount of new material.
This remaining service accomplishment includes expenses relevant to our general operation, such as rent, admin, utilities, insurance, etc.
