Program areas at Texas Farmers' Markets
Two Farmers' market locations provide central Texas farmers, ranchers and artisanal food businesses a venue for direct-interaction opportunities while providing the community locally-produced, seasonal foods and educating the public about nutritional, environmental and social implications of eating seasonally and locally. Both Markets promote and accept snap and wic programs benefiting low income individuals and families.
The austin fermentation festival is a one-day educational event produced by F2M Texas that celebrates all things fermented in central Texas. The day includes a series of fermentation workshops (covering topics such as sauerkraut, kefir, cheese making, charcuterie, beer, sourdough, vinegars and lacto-fermented vegetables), a community culture swap, a kraut mob, fermented foods and product vendors, book sales, festival-inspired lunch and beverages from local purveyors, a mini Farmers' market and live, local music. The event is zero-waste, in keeping with F2M Texas' pledge to be a zero-waste organization. Proceeds from this event benefit the Texas Farmers' market emergency fund, which offers financial assistance in $500 increments to Texas farmers and ranchers in times of environmental, personal or other crisis.
