Tacoma Boat Builders program service accomplishments included the following Serving 281 youth across all programs including those open to community referrals.160 unduplicated youth who are Court Connected and or Experiencing Houselessness in Pierce County.121 of those youth were new referrals with the remaining 39 continuing on as alumni.The overall successful completion rate for court-connected youth remains high across all programs ranging from 77-100% depending on the program. The lower percentages reflect the realities of serving youth who are experiencing challenges such as justice involvement or housing instability. Youth who do not finish the program are frequently faced with barriers to their success that are beyond their control.Of the total youth served 55 were youth participating in programming while detained at Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center in Pierce County. On average TBB consistently serves 50-53% cultural ethnic minority representation in our programs; 2022-23 shows an increase to 57.4% BIPOC youth. The overall racial-ethnic breakdown is as follows: Asia Pacific Islander: 6% Black: 35% Hispanic: 14% Native American: 2% and White: 43%. In addition to the 160 unduplicated new youth 39 alumni youth were welcomed to continue attending sessions where they further develop the skills relationships and capabilities that only time and experience can deepen. Professional youth engagement staff make it possible to offer greater individualized support for youth in need of guidance and advocacy for closing their cases with the courts completing their secondary education support in developing and achieving goals as well as support for challenges they may be facing in other important domains of their lives.

Imagine Justice Project has three activities: 1 AmeriCorps Cohort: Imagine Justice Project recruits administers trains and provides oversight to a 20 member team of AmeriCorps members who serve as trusted messenger mentors to middle and high school students from communities impacted by violence.IJP recruits individuals to join the AmeriCorps team who have lived experience and identities that are disproportionately impacted by violence. The specific services offered directly by this project is mentorship of young people impacted by violence within an existing framework of positive youth development programs in Pierce County. The mentors meet young people where they're at literally and figuratively to build high-trust relationships on the foundation of shared identity and experience. 2 Peace Point: Based on a collective impact model the leadership team for Peace Point collaboratively led the initial Peace Point project from October 2022 - June 2023 culminating in the publication of Peace Point: The Community-Driven Plan for Youth Safety & Wellness. This plan summarizes the findings and conclusions of a nine-month effort to examine understand and identify strategies to reduce youth violence in Tacoma and Pierce County. Nearly 200 unique individuals contributed to this planning process through interviews surveys focus groups and community forums. Engagement concentrated on youth and others in the Pierce County community with lived experience and representing communities disproportionately impacted by violence. The plan was comprehensive in its scope identifying what work was already happening what new work needs to be prioritized how the work should be done and who should be involved. 3 The Youth Serving Agencies Network YSAN is a collaboration of 20+ Pierce County organizations. Together the YSAN partners work to increase coordination collaboration and capacity to collectively provide comprehensive support to court-connected youth in Pierce County. The YSAN vision is to build a just and equitable community-centered justice system that is rooted in trauma-informed approaches cultural responsiveness and positive youth development.
