Program areas at Studios for the Performing Arts Operating Company

Clara provides eight cultural organizations with permanent space in a decommissioned school property. Tenants enjoy reduced-rate rent (about 25% of market rate) in exchange for helping clara provide free Arts programs to designated title i schools in sacramento city unified school district. Impact: about 2,500 students served through free programming in fiscal 2022; cultural organizations touching more than 70,000 sacramento residents were able to invest more resources in their work rather than their rent.
Clara provides rehearsal and performance space for a number of small Arts groups in our community, with weekly classes and rehearsals taking place 6 days per week. More than 30 cultural groups use our event and classroom space for their community events each year, serving about 5,000 sacramento residents per year.
Clara provides students in title i sacramento county public schools with access to classes and performances in dance, music, and theater. This includes 10-week in-school artist residencies; pre-and post-show workshops paired with free tickets to student matinees; leadership and career-development programs through the Arts; and summer camps serving students grades tk-12. In fiscal 2022, clara launched virtual teaching residencies branded as "clara classroom", allowing the organization to expand its Arts education reach beyond sacramento county. In fy 2022, about 80,000 students were collectively served by one or more of these programs.
