Program areas at Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture

SEEAG organizes an annual countywide Farm Day in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties and beyond, to educate adults and families about local agriculture with the intent of building new agricultural ambassadors and increasing agritourism. The event is free and open to the public. The event provides a platform for farmers to tell the real story about their operations.
SEEAGs mission is to educate students and the greater community about the farm origins of their food and agricultures contribution to our nutritional well-being.
SEEAGs Ventura County Child Wellness Initiative Program continues to connect the acres of farmland around student to the food on their tables.Local 3rd graders are given the opportunity to learn about how Ventura Countys diverse specialty crops, grown in their own backyard, play a big role in their wellness. SEEAG will highlight 9 different crops throughout the school year. Over 10,000 school children will be given reusable shopping bags filled with free produce, recipe cards, nutrition information, a list of Food Shares free produce pantries and more. SEEAG is incorporating the new national physical activity guidelines that suggest more daily exercise. VC Public Health is a partner andis supplying SEEAG with toothbrushes and dental floss to all children.
