Soundkeeper is actively involved in promoting community awareness of long island sound and its problems. It does this through public outreach.
The primary activity of the Soundkeeper is to actively patrol long island sound to gather information regarding development activities, municipal and industrial discharge problems, reportings of habitat and wetlands destruction, and toxic contamination incidences. The program has been transferred to save the sound or formerly known as Connecticut fund for the environment.
