Program areas at Seattle Works
BIPOC Link-up and White Caucus are community-building spaces. BIPOC Link-up is a space where people who identify at Black Indigenous or People of Color can connect build community share resources discuss racial equity promote healing and make an impact. White Caucus is a space for people who identify as white to learn build community and take action to dismantle racism. Both spaces build community among participants and encourage leadership and making an impact outside of the meeting. Seattle Works hosted 20 BIPOC Link-ups and 10 White Caucuses in 2022 including sessions facilitated by Seattle Works staff and by guest speakers.
The Bridge: Board Training is a board training to reimagine board service through an anti-racist lens learn new skills and build a sense of community responsibility. Participants develop skills to evaluate current board culture and practices and shift those practices to be anti-oppressive to find board positions that are a good fit and understand how the historical context of nonprofit boards informs current practices and culture. In 2022 Seattle Works hosted 6 trainings resulting in 148 Bridge graduates who are prepared to serve on nonprofit boards and bring an equity and anti-racism approach to their board service.
Agents of Change is a cohort-based program where participants learn how to incorporate an anti-racist lens to the work they do in the nonprofit sector as volunteers board members and nonprofit professionals. Participants learn about topics ranging from implicit bias the nonprofit industrial complex and building anti-racist organizational cultures. Participants build community with each other in the cohorts and through alumni events. They develop leadership skills to become agents of change in the nonprofit sector. Seattle Works held two cohosts in 2022 including 58 individuals from different areas of the nonprofit sector.
