Research & education program - shafter research station - San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton Growers Association operates the former usda Cotton research station in shafter, California under a master lease agreement with the property owner, the county of kern. Research conducted there provides our members with innovative methods and technologies that provide solutions to serious threats to Cotton Quality. The Association operates research greenhouses, laboratories, and field plots at the site. The Association also includes a student internship program for local college students to complement the research component.
Quality market promotion & development program - support for Cotton council international (cci) - San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton Growers Association's contributions to cci are used to promote our members' Cotton in the marketplace. Their promotional efforts helps to build and sustain markets that use the Quality of fiber produced by our members. Cci's mission is to increase exports of u.s. Cotton, cottonseed and u.s. Manufactured Cotton products through activities that affect every phase of the marketing chain - from the initial mill buyer of Cotton fiber or purchaser of u.s. cotton-rich yarns and fabrics on through to the final consumer.
Quality assurance program - San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton Growers Association conducts a stringent Quality assurance program to ensure each bale of Cotton adheres to specific rules and regulations and is identified through electronic means. These bales carry a collective mark which identify Quality and place of origin.
