Program areas at Rochester Land Trust

During 2023 the Land Trust acquired a 63 acre parcel in Rochester known as the Long Plain Forest Reserve. The acquisition was done with the assistance of a grant from the Massachusetts Conservation Partnership Program. This property has conservation values including water quality protection, habitat protection, scenic views, open space expansion, public access and governmental planning. It is part of a larger 241 acre drinking water aquifer protection project that includes land in Mattapoisett, Acushnet and Fairhaven. Also of note during 2023, the Land Trust made significant progress rebuilding and restoring old stone walls at a scenic site known locally as Church's Pony Pasture. Additionally Land Trust volunteers improved trail and property markers and continued monitoring its conservations restrictions.
