Program areas at The Lone Star Wind Orchestra
Band Programs: LSWO Performed Five (5) in-person concert during the 2021-2022 season with the LSWO presenting Three (3) concerts and the Lone Star Youth Winds presenting Two (2). The LSWO hosted a chamber performance with the Barcelona Clarinet Players in Dallas. LSWO also performed Twelve (12) "Pop-Up" concerts around the community. LSWO reached 12,446 patrons participating in LSWO in-person and virtual programs, including 500 complimentary tickets to artistically underserved Dallas-area residents through Lone Star Kids.
Education Programs: LSWO Offers development programs for young band members seeking additional challenges. The Lone Star Youth Winds, with 60 members, had two performances after weeks of professionally condensed rehearsals and master classes. The program reaches over 1,200 students and audience members. The St. Philip's Percussion Ensemble is a twice weekly after school percussion program that serves fifty students from South Dallas. Students perform throughout the community and in Dallas Arts District Venues. The LSWO offered Two (2) exceptional high school band seniors a Music Changing Lives Scholarship ($1000 each) through a competitive application process.
