Program areas at Pacific Jazz Institute
The Pacific Jazz Institute provides live Jazz music, blues, country and world music performances for the general public hosted "classical" american Jazz performers who are nationally and internationally recognized. The artists are pioneers and innovators in their specialized fields and ofter considered ldgends in their art. Concerns are presented year round for 700-2800 persons per week. Stiving to make performance accessible for all, the Institute provides weekly student, military and senior discounts. In addition, for most shows children under the age of 12 gain free entry.
The Institute hosts approximately ten to fifteen performances per year for students, senior citizens and seattle's homeless who because of their physical or financial situtation are simply unable to attend regularly scheduled events. The Institute always provides lunch for the meet the masters and senior citizen/homeless events. The Institute collaborates with educational institutions in providing access to its music venue for use by students promoting the unique methods of presenting and preserving the art of Jazz music. The Institute provided 8 presentations for local high school and college music groups in 2016.
