Program areas at NW Venture Philanthropy Foundation
Nwvp has been providing backbone leadership and support to a community-wide collective impact effort to reduce adverse childhood experiences (aces) and build resiliency in thurston county Washington. In 2014, organization sponsored a community summit-resilient children, resilient communities-in partnership with the junior league of olympia, fsg, and the state department of social and health services. The organization then worked with a county commissioner to host a follow-up retreat to continue the summit discussions. Afterward, two similar community coalitions merged into one with a clear plan, the thurston council for children and youth (tccy), a consortium of citizens and representatives of approximately 95 local organizations. Nwvp facilitated tccy's adoption of an organizational structure, group norms, and a logic model that identified a common agenda and a strategy formed around five key goal areas. Furthermore, nwvp engaged tccy in a comprehensive analysis of key data, programs and service concerning ace's and resiliency in thurston county.
