Curriculum development - the smt Center partners with organizations in North Carolina to build interest and skills in Science and literacy for children ages 3-10 and their families, in community settings like libraries, museums, and out-of-school time programs. The smt Center incurred expenses of $3,717 to build additional curriculum modules, thereby broadening the reach of the Science and literacy program.
Student Science research - the smt Center works with high school students and their teachers throughout rural North Carolina to develop Science and engineering research programs. Activities include saturday student research academies and ongoing support for students as the students investigate, design and complete research projects culminating with the students participating in the nc junior Science and humanities symposium.
