Program areas at Mission 14
In 2022, Mission 14 continued to focus on attracting a global audience to drive action in the fight against human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. We worked alongside brave nonprofits who have established best practices to help combat human trafficking, and the variety of arenas causing and affecting the trafficking system, both here in the united states and other regions around the globe.sewing centermission 14's nicaragua sewing school and training center launched its seventh year of classes. Our factory partners continued to reach out to Mission 14 to help provide skilled labor and we offered ten classes. Mission 14 added a 3-month industrial sewing machine mechanics course in the latter part of the year.the sewing school is an accredited inatec facility, the local government body that oversees specific courses that promote skill-based training and employment. This has also given the Mission 14 program a higher standing within the apparel manufacturing sector as one of the few training centers. In 2022 we admitted 190 students of which 77% found work in the garment manufacturing sector.human trafficking seminarsmission 14, in partnership with the baltimore city mayor's office of criminal justice and the united states attorney's office, in march, offered its sixth annual four-day human trafficking training for law enforcement in ocean city, Maryland. This conference has grown each year and draws law enforcement officers from many states across the u.s. It was a huge success with officers attending from ten states and canada.we once again partnered with the baltimore city mayor's office of criminal justice and the united states attorney's office for our fourth annual 3-day human trafficking professionals seminar (victim service providers, social workers) in october. This conference is geared toward addressing the needs of professionals working in human trafficking.
