Maine 200

Maine200 had planned to move its bicentennial celebrations into 2021 after the COVID-related delays of 2020 and realize its mission to plan, administer, and coordinate programs and projects with the Maine Bicentennial Commission that commemorate Maine's 200th anniversary of statehood.Despite postponements, Maine200 did realize aspects of its mission as community grant awardees were able to host their events. The Statehood Day ceremony was postponed to spring of 2021 but the pandemic situation had not yet cleared up, so that effort was moved to a video production. The Innovation Expo was cancelled due to pandemic concerns with a hands-on event. (Continued on Schedule O)The State of Maine Bicentennial Parade took place in August 2021 after several delays and was a great success, drawing a large crowd to Lewiston-Auburn and featuring a National Guard flyover and more than 100 units, led by Governor Mills. Planning continued for the bicentennial time capsule, with the sealing and dedication postponed to 2022 to allow an in-person event.
