Program areas at Los Angeles Habilitation House

Janitorial Employment Program and Outreach Services and Youth Training, Certificate, and Work Experience Program. JEPOTS is a program for people with disabilities and YTCWE is a youth program for people with disabilities who are between the ages of 16 - 21 years old. Several foundations fund this program as their mission is to support youth who have disadvantages. The AbilityOne Program, administered by SourceAmerica, connects federal contracting officers with opportunities to procure services and products from non-profits whose mission aligns. LAHH is a producing agency with SourceAmerica and has the responsibility to outreach, train, employ, accommodate, and support job placement into other areas of interest for employment that are expressed by people with disabilities. Specifically LAHH is providing paid work experience, paid training, and accommodations, and job placement services for people who have disabilities in the building services sector. This sector crosses all major industries and is needed in almost every town across America, regardless of population. LAHH provided support, accommodations, and training to 4 individuals who have disabilities to transition into a new career after working with LAHH for several years. Supported 2 employees with disabilities to transition into a different working environment with different responsibilities, more leadership opportunities, and supports that work for them. LAHH maintained all employees with disabilities and without disabilities employment, 22 people, and provided supports, accommodations, including additional unpaid leave as needed. LAHH provided training on-site across all locations with a total of 1,307 hours of training onsite and online provided, amounting to $34,321 paid training wages. Onsite training as well as classroom style training is a key success factor and provided repetitious training and reminding which is an essential accommodation for people with disabilities in order for them to be successful and safe at work. Promoted 1 employee with disabilities to supervisor, and provided additional supports and accommodations to 4 new hires. Maintained three working supervisors, three working leads, and provided training on how to work and support andaccommodate people with disabilities throughout the year in order to manage personal stress and challenges that are not easily overcome.
Contract Employment Outreach, Training Program - also known as Contract Management Services or CMSOTP. This program provides services, including direct employment, training, supports and accommodations for people with disabilities with a focus on service-connected veterans, wounded warriors, and other service men and women with disabilities and challenges. Through paid work experience in the field of government contracting, there is on-site training, repetitious training on use of computer systems and the closeout system in place. There are several checks and balances in place to minimize errors and mistakes and also point out areas for training.
