Program areas at Adrian Center for the Arts

The organization's art center provides studio space for approximately 25 local established and emerging artists where they may pursue their work in spaces dedicated to their specific media and in a community of artists. This activity is an important aspect of the LCVA's program offerings. Much of the expense of this program relates to providing the facility and is included in the amount reported on Part IX, Line 16 and as detailed on Schedule O
The organization provides a variety of open houses and special events designed to make community members aware of art opportunities in the area and to expose the population to the visual arts. These events include a summer and winter open house and a number of gallery openings and receptions. The organization also engaged in community outreach activities. The organization offered a number of art therapy workshops for students of all ages to learn how art has been or can be used as a tool to help overcome anxiety from isolation and disconnection created due to COVID. Resulting work from these sessions and from free classes offered to front-line workers were exhibited in the Gallery. Masks were decorated by a wide range of the community with what they felt had helped them through COVID. The installation work debuted 100 masks and will continue to the Artalicious Fine Arts Fair untill we have 200-250 masks.
The organization offers course instruction to both adults and children in a variety of visual arts media, including ceramics, drawing, painting, glass, printmaking and sculpture. Approximately 275 course contacts were made. Also offered was a three-day professional development workshop to assist Michigan art teachers to maintain their public school art certification
