Program areas at LA Stage Alliance
The ovation awards are the only peer-judged theatre awards in los angeles, created to recognize excellence in theatrical performance, production and design in the greater los angeles area. Over 300 theatrical productions compete each year in 35 different categories, and are evaluated by a pool of 250 vetted ovation voters, all of whom are working theatre professionals of greater La. Each ovation awards season (september through august) concludes with a tabulation that determines the nominees in each category, followed by a black-tie ceremony at a prominent greater los angeles theatre in january.
Lastagealliance.comla Stage Alliance manages a website that includes event and production listings for its members, offers half-price tickets to the general public including nearly 25,000 opt-in subscribers to the weekly email and insodoing engages an increasing number of performing arts patrons while returning over $60k in ticket sales revenue annually to participating arts groups. The site also serves as the interface for the annual ovation awards program capturing in the database the work of over 10,000 artists and including information on nearly 300 shows annually. The site also serves to educate the public regarding shows garnering the highest scores and earning "o! Ovation recommended" status.
