Program areas at Kent Center
Residential program - provides personalized community based assisted living to individuals with developmental disabilities. The organization offers a variety of community residential options, but only five or fewer individuals live in any one of the residential homes supported by the Center. The program provides services to approximately 40 - 47 individuals.
Supported employment program - provides employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Center's thrift store employs approximately half of the individuals that receive services. Other individuals provide office cleaning services, shredding, recycling and professional bulk mailing service. The supportive employment program serves approximately 18 - 27 individuals.
Day program - provides individuals with moderate developmental disabilities the opportunity to learn pre-vocational skills by performing maintenance tasks and through the fulfillment of piece work contracts from local businesses. Individuals with severe developmental disabilities are trained in basic self help skills and activities of daily living. The day program encourages individuals to work on a variety of skills that can lead to more independent living. Social and recreational skills are emphasized, as well as group participation and interaction with others. The day program serves approximately 47 - 50 individuals.
Community support living arrangements (csla)/ personal support services (pss) - provides individuals with the necessary support, including supervision and other interventions to enable them to live in their own homes, apartments, family homes or rental units. The program serves approximately 22 - 40 individuals.
