All organizations were expressly invited into The program by The program officers of The Brown Foundation and worked with The Foundation in developing competitive projects with The charitable partners early career principal investigators. Program officers assisted The early career principal investigators in crafting materials, budgets, and defending their proposed programs in oral examination and power point presentation settings either live or through virtual conferencing. The top finisher from each of The institutions also received The Dorothy dorsett Brown innovation in science award designed to assist The principal investigator with future applications to governmental funding sources such as nih, nis, and dod as non-exclusive examples.see detailed grant schedule
Shelter and food security program contributions were awarded to 31 organizations. This initiative is by invitation only and The Foundation worked closely with second harvest food bank to identify a suitable number of qualified food pantries and develop an application protocol, review threshold, and implementation model. Foundation representatives met with various partners and provided access to volunteers through our service learning celebration event. The Foundation provided other services sometimes including meeting room access and community contacts.see detailed grant schedule
