Program areas at International Psoriasis Council
Education - to enhance the care of patients worldwide, ipc delivers various educational programs for health care professionals worldwide, including symposia at important congresses, online masterclasses, webinars, and other in-person and virtual education programs geared toward improving the expertise of early to mid-career dermatologists and supporting the next generation of Psoriasis leaders. Ipc experts spoke about various topics, including precision medicine, early intervention, topicals, orals, biologics, and comorbidities. Ipc also produced online content in the form of videos, expert commentaries, and congress reports. More than 30,000 professionals were provided with disease information, medical education, and clinical resources through these activities.
Patient carereclassification of disease severity: over the past year, ipc has educated nearly 3,000 dermatologists, through masterclasses, congress symposia, and our take ten video project, on the value of using ipc's new disease severity categorization in their daily practice to increase the number of patients receiving the appropriate treatment. In addition, ipc worked with national entities to secure the inclusion of the classification in the update of two european treatment guidelines and partnered with the npf to analyze their annual patient survey data. A manuscript of the study was published in a peer-reviewed medical journal.telemedicine: ipc convened a working group to establish a road map for how ipc can aid the development and implementation of telemedicine focused on Psoriasis diagnosis and management. The telemedicine working group developed consensus statements regarding telemedicine in Psoriasis management. A manuscript was published in a peer-reviewed medical journal. Pustular Psoriasis: ipc's pustular Psoriasis working group aims to improve understanding of this rare and life-threatening disease and conduct activities to improve patient treatment. During 2023, a delphi process to develop an International consensus on the classification of pustular Psoriasis and related diseases was launched. The study's results will be published in 2024.
Researchthe global Psoriasis atlas is a partnership with the ilds (International league of dermatological societies) and ifpa (International federation of Psoriasis associations). Its main objective is to document the prevalence of Psoriasis worldwide. In 2023, six manuscripts were published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Outreachthe ipc think tank is an annual event where the ipc board of directors gathers with our corporate members and councilors to discuss the most pressing global issues facing treating and understanding Psoriasis. During the program, discussions focus on ipc's progress toward addressing these issues. In addition, dynamic speakers and key opinion leaders in the global Psoriasis community deliver state-of-the-art lectures and presentations.the 2023 think tank was held in the faroe islands, denmark, with a special scientific symposium focused on acknowledging and celebrating the work of gunnar lomholtz (february 2, 1915- august 20, 1993), a danish physician who completed the first epidemiology study in Psoriasis. The study's outcome was the basis for his 300-page 1963 thesis covering Psoriasis's prevalence, spontaneous course, and genetics. He examined over 11,000 individuals (all inhabitants of the faroe islands). More than 100 Psoriasis leaders participated in the event virtually and in person.
