Program areas at Indo American Cancer Association
Program meetings : iaca conducts meeting at each of the major the nationalt Cancer meetings as well as smaller regional meetings in the us. These national meetings are asco, ash and sabcs. These meetings are key ways to spread the mission of the organization and recruit active members. Exhibiting allows the opportunity to meet those interested and disseminate information.
The traveling fellowship program aims to support doctors of indian heritage in their pursuit of higher education and training at top-tier us Cancer institutions.
Palliative care initiative : it is estimated that over 1 million new cases of Cancer occur each year in india and of these over 80% are at an advanced stage. Iaca made improving pain and palliative care for Cancer patients a key focus of its activities in india. Palliative care in india is in early stages of development and iaca is helping to spread awareness and training. Education, training and proper data collection are needed. Iaca hopes to partner with india organizations that are addressing the infrastructure needs to improve quality of life for Cancer patients.
