Program areas at Indiana Dental Hygienists Association Inc Group Return
The biggest program for the local components will be their ability to conduct continuing education courses in the component areas. With last year's structural changes within idha, demographics have changed for each component and they have many new members to whom the component needs to reach. Anticipated participation from members is approximately 10-20 members, depending on component size. Membership recruitment is vital to our organization and addressed at these component meetings by including non-members. Component leadership meet in the summer to prepare their meeting schedule. Not all meetings include a continuing education opportunity, but many do. Non-members are invited to attend these meetings with continuning education opportunities but pay a small fee for ce certification.
Another program at the component level is participaiton in children's Dental health month. Indiviual components and sometimes indiviual members hold events during the month on february. Expense included toothbrushes, toothpastes, and printing expenses.
Component participation at the Indiana annual conference is vital. The leadership of idha and the annual conference committee plan to include many activities at our annual meeting which will engage our grassroots members and current Dental hygiene students. Without their participation and support, our organization will not survive. With our new general assembly structure, every member from every component can attend and voice their concern and vote on issues.
Other - components provide other services and opportunities for their members such as meetings and continuing education sessions. Several of the components also host a legislative forum for their members. They will invite area legislators to a forum style meeting and members and their representatives will discuss current legislative issues regarding Dental hygiene. They may also issue grants and/or scholarships.
