Program areas at HUI Pono HOLOHOLONA
HPH provided low- or no-cost spay/neuter services for over 700 cats on the Big Island of Hawaii during the 2023 fiscal year (January-December). Feral cats sterilized through this program also received flea and tick treatment and necessary pain medications and antibiotics.
PAWS Sustainability Program: Plans are underway to construct a multipurpose building and clear additional acreage to extend the safe roaming area for the PAWS cat population and to initiate programs to leverage agricultural land to generate a sustainable income to support the sanctuary and HPH's spay/neuter program in perpetuity.
PAWS-Pono Animal Way Sanctuary-proveds a home to more than 300 feral, elderly, abandoned, and special needs felines that are otherwise considered unadoptable. PAWS cats are sterilized, fed, and provided veterinary care for life. Many of these cats came to PAWS from the emergency evacuation of the Kilauea eruption zone in 2018.
