Harlem Village Academies (HVA) is a progressive, K-12 urban public school district founded in September 2003, consisting of five public charter schools as well as a college support program. HVA serves as the demonstration site for the new Progressive Education Institute, which is located on their 124th Street campus. They are a community of educators in Harlem, working to revolutionize public education in our nation by building a K-12 public school district and an educators’ institute, based on the ideals of progressive pedagogy.
