Gynuity Health Projects has been at the forefront of global research and advocacy efforts to improve access to high-quality, simple, medical abortion (ma) services. In 2022, we studied a number of approaches for de-medicalized abortion and self-care approaches that prioritize a person's autonomy and reduces the number of in-clinic visits. We conducted research on next generation abortifacients to address the absence of mifepristone in many countries. We confirmed the feasibility of telemedicine ma services outside the u.s. Including in mexico and in eastern europe and eurasia. We continue to perform research to streamline ma services at later gestations. We also undertook research to improve diagnosis and treatment strategies for hypertensive disorders in pregnancy in low and middle income countries. We tested a simple new protocol using oral misoprostol alone for inducing labor in women with hypertension in pregnancy in india. We provided technical support to a multicenter implementation study in ethiopia and uganda to understand the feasibility of introducing a diagnostic screening tool for early identification of preeclampsia. We published several new journal articles that summarize the results from this work and continue to engage strategically with partners and leading Health authorities to share evidence for updating guidelines and practices.
