Program areas at Growth and Justice

Since January 2021, as a follow-up to the MN Equity Blueprint, G & J has been developing the MN Equity Map with the University of MN-Morris, Center for Small Towns. The map is a platform to help geographically pinpoint and narratively share the vital work done by community organizations and community members to foster regional, racial, and environmental equity. It encourages and aids idea-sharing and cooperation between communities and community members who want to help improve their communities. In a 2021 report, The Brookings Institute lauded the MN Equity Blueprint community engagement process as a national best practice for promoting collaboration and resilience, State resilience and recovery: Strategies to reduce inequality and promote prosperity by creating better places. G & J has also serves on and supports work on several state boards and committees to help advance rural, racial, and environmental equity in MN: the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Community Advisory Board, Minnesotans for the American Community Survey, Lead for Minnesota, the MN Climate Action Framework Clean Economy Work Group, the MN Rural Broadband Coalition, and ServeMinnesota -AmeriCorps, including the award-winning and nationally recognized Math & Reading Corps and emerging Climate Corps.
