Program areas at Global Network of Independent Missions

Funds for a home-based Christian orphanage, a registered NGO (FCRA) in Karnataka, India, to assist with food, rent, tuition, health and staff to care for ten children. In addition, funds were donated toward construction of a permanent home for the family and a non-residential trauma care center for severely abused and neglected children and youth. The objective of this orphanage is to provide quality living conditions, education and spiritual and emotional support for the ten children to become successful contributors in their community (10 children; 2 parents, 2 staff; full year program). The future trauma care center staffed by professionals/counselors will promote best practice, evidence-based knowledge and skills in working with vulnerable, exploited and orphaned children and their families. (Staff of 5-10; full-time program)
Funds for additional classroom building for a Christian elementary school registered as an NGO in western Kenya. The objective of the school is to provide quality education, daily lunch and future vocational training for the children to become successful contributors in their communities. Includes compensation for teachers and administrator. (Children: presently, 40 from the most disadvantaged families; future attendance will be near 75; present staff: 3. Ten months of a calendar year.)
Majority of funds were remitted for the benefit of a Haitian-registered NGO orphanage in Les Anglais hit hard by Hurricane Matthew in late 2016. Besides funds for roof rebuilding, a substantial amount was remitted through a US non-profit which partners with the Haitian NGO, for 1) land purchase and 2) construction of a future orphanage building. In addition, funding was applied to food, living costs and school uniforms and books for 15 children who reside in the home orphanage in Les Anglais. (Objectives: 1) to provide quality living conditions, education and all-encompassing support for the 15 orphanage children to become successful contributors in their community, 2) to partner with other non-profit agencies for emergency relief and self-sustainability efforts in this community. Full-time program.)
