Program areas at Get Healthy Utah
Values study implementation - provide results of values base study to partners and stakeholders. Provide up-to-date informaiton around evidence- based practices through website, stakeholder meetings, and communications. Work on projects to increase Healthy food and active living in Utah.
Diabetes prevention - improve awareness and access to the national diabetes prevention program, an evidence-based lifestyle change program focused on helping those at risk for developing type 2 diabetes make sustained, positive lifestyle changes including eating healthier, increasing physical activity, and reducing stress. Educate and work with employers and payors on providing, referring to, and/or covering the program.
Healthy Utah communities - created a new designation program in fall 2020 for cities and towns in partnership with the Utah league of cities and towns. Provide support and highlight work being done around coalition- building, working collaboratively, addressing access to Healthy food, active living, and mental health for communities to improve the health of residents.
4th exempt purpose: increase Healthy food access to schools - implemented strategies in 38 Utah schools to improve access to Healthy food through starting or improving a food pantry, adding fresh foods and produce to a food pantry, or doing a Healthy snack program. Examples include: connecting with local farmers markets, adding regrigeration to provide fresh foods, and starting hydroponics stations to grow their own food. 5th exempt purpose: strategy implementation other various programs to support a Healthy Utah.
