Program areas at Dallas Parks Foundation
Friends of Willis C Winters came together through direct donations from the community. Upgrades were made to the soccer fields, renovations to the historic pavilion, and added new picnic tables as well as updated the landscaping.
The Dallas Parks Foundation continues to support local friends groups and parks to assist in enhancing the beauty and beneficial use of public lands and right of ways in the city and parks. The foundation does this by promoting, securing, and administering funds to enhance and maintain parks throughout Dallas, increasing public funds for the parks systems, and raising community awareness of park stewardship. In addition, the Foundation promotes charitable, scientific, literary, educational, social, and public health and wellness activities and programs to benefit the park system, land conservation, and public health and wellness.
The Dallas Parks Foundation partnered with the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department to facilitate the Best Buy Teen Tech Center. An innovative, creative, out-of-school learning space where young people, ages 12-17, can work with adult mentors to develop new skills, explore their own ideas, and build confidence in themselves through the use of cutting-edge technology. The students have access to a full audio recording studio, and editing bay, film and television productions, 3D graphics, and an animation studio.
