Techamerica's commercial policy mission is to shape, promote, and protect the industry through grassroots to global policy advocacy, provide access to business opportunities, relationships, and investors; offer insight through critical business intelligence; assist in organizational and employee development through education and training; and offer cost savings from a unique suite of business services. Among its key policy objectives are the defense and promotion of a global delivery model driven by global networks and human capital supplies, the strengthening of information security and advocating for fair tax policies. The commercial sector group is divided into a commercial policy division and a commercial development division to help meet our members' needs and to help them grow their businesses. The commercial policy division, which focuses on the policy, legal and regulatory issues facing the Technology industry, has a robust government affairs program. This includes a 50-state government affairs offering, as well as federal affairs and international affairs programs. Among the broad public policy issues that the group's committees focus on are tax policy, business immigration, trade and global supply chain, e-commerce and telecommunications, broadband deployment, intellectual property, health i.t., cloud computing, information security, and data privacy.
The public sector (ps) group within techamerica focuses on the federal, state and local government sectors. It serves wide-ranging needs of the Technology companies offering products and services in the public sector marketplace through advocacy, member events, networking and business development, and works to provide an active voice for the public sector community. The group offers its members business development and advocacy activities conducted through an array of vertical market committees. In the federal sector, the ps group has committees that focus on defense/intel, homeland security, and the civil federal agencies. The procurement policy committee monitors all legislative activity affecting Technology federal vendors. There is also a gsa subcommittee that monitors and supports the gsa information technology(i.t.) Schedules and gwacs. The state and local government (slg) division within the ps group continues to promote techamerica as the voice for the state and local government i.t. Industry. The ps group has a board of directors which oversees all of its programs and ensures that the activities are in the best interests of the members and the Technology industry.
